Diary entry no.1

Dear Diary, today is our first full day in Brazil!

That's a crazy statement I never thought I'd make. Being from such a small countryside town in England, to starting a whole new life in South America... that's ridiculous! But so exciting. We've been stuck inside for so long due to the lockdowns in the UK, that being so free here is almost an an otherworldly feeling!

The skies are so bright and full of sun, compared to the dull, greyness of England it's a complete juxtaposition.

It even looks gorgeous here at night!

It's hard to feel anything but excititement at the moment because everyone we meet here is so excited to meet us and want to ask so many questions! Brazillian people are so welcoming and are going out of their way to offer help if we need it. We've already been invited to a bbq party!! Our complex has designated barbecue areas with lots of seating, right infront of the pool. It looks like all the adults drink and eat delicious meat all day, whilst all of the children swim and play for hours.

The journey here was a tough one. We flew from London, to Dubai, to Sao Paulo to Goiânia. It took nearly 40 hours and it was incredibly tiring. Especially with a child! Navigating the airports was really nerve wracking, but actually much easier than I expected. In hindsight, direct flights are definitely worth the extra money.

Today we plan on going down to the pool, Joey is desperate for a swim! Maybe having a cerveja (yes, I've already learnt the word for beer!) And just having a relaxing day around our new home, chatting to our new neighbours.

This is the tiny childrens pool! there are 2 much larger adult pools above this that you can't see here. But it's nice that they have their own space where its safe for them to play.

Can't wait to update you again with our adventures. Time to get planning!!
